For a millennial like myself, being taught the importance of the environment was a basic part of my early childhood education. I remember going to school when I was in 2nd grade and seeing a presentation about recycling. The presenter did this for a living, I assume, since she had all these props that she used to make things interesting for us kids. There may have even been a fun cartoon that she showed us. Honestly, it was so long ago that I don’t remember with absolute certainty. But I do remember that it was the first time I heard the basic commandment of environmentalism.
She pointed to a poster she had brought with her and smiled when she said, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!” Then she gave us candy. Textbook positive reinforcement, folks!
While my generation has grown older, and much about the world has changed, the vast majority of us still hold firmly onto the desire to take care of our planet. In the last 15 years alone, global warming has made it from the fringes of public and political discourse, to center stage. Entire industries have begun to find new, efficient, and environmentally friendly ways to operate. The generations of children taught to reduce, reuse, and recycle have grown up into adults who want to make the world a better place.
This is why zooKKs is so important. This is why zooKKs is so exciting to many of the people I talk with every day. We are born of that generation who feels responsible for keeping our environment clean and healthy. We are born of the desire to leave the world a better place than we found it. Sure, there are many things that make zooKKs great: a cheaper alternative to driving alone or taking public transportation, an opportunity for people to make money during their commutes, a commuting environment that allows people to work or relax in peace…. But zooKKs long term plan of reducing vehicle related emissions hits closer to the heart for so many people. We are literally reducing the number of vehicles on the road. As opposed to other rideshare services that give people incentive to drive more, zooKKs is the only rideshare that incentivizes people to drive less. If you have been wondering how to reduce traffic or how to reduce pollution, we’ve just provided the answer.
There’s not much to else to it. Just by sharing your commute with another working professional, you can have an immediate and positive impact on the environment. What’s holding you back?
