Q: Do I have to create an account to use zooKKs, and is it free?

A: Signing up with zooKKs is completely free!

It is mandatory to create an account/profile if you wish to benefit from our services. Of course, you don’t have to use zooKKs if you don’t want to, but we offer a streamlined carpooling experience that connects drivers and passengers while saving you money on commutes and making simplifying your travel plans.

Q: Why does zooKKs need my email?

A: zooKKs uses your email only for communication between you and us. If there are any important updates with the company or special rewards for our users, we will email you about it. However, as with other sensitive information (your precise address, phone number, etc.), zooKKs will keep your email private and secure. It is up to your discretion what you share and with who.

Q: How does the verification process work?

A: When registering with zooKKs, you must provide a valid email address. We will send you an email with a link to verify your address that, once followed, will allow you to access our full service. Once you verify your email address, you will be able to build your zooKKs profile and view other zooKKies.

When registering as a driver or passenger for a schedule, you will be prompted to fill in mandatory fields like vehicle and payment information. For payments, zooKKs uses Braintree to verify all credit cards and process all payments.

Q: Why is verification mandatory?

A: A verified email or phone number is mandatory for a number of security reasons. Creating a safe and comfortable environment for our users is zooKKs top priority, and verifying emails helps to prevent against bots and fake profiles. A valid email or phone number also helps us to contact you with important information regarding zooKKs and/or your account.

Q: What can I do if I have not received the verification email?

A: If you have not received the verification email in your inbox, please check your spam folder first. If the email is not in your spam folder, you can request another email be sent to your email address.

Q: I can’t verify my Email!

A: If you have followed the steps for verification and there still seems to be a problem, please contact us through the app or https://www.zookks.com. Be sure to be specific when describing the problem. Our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Q: What if I cannot find a ride?

A: If there are no Ko-zooKKies available in your area, this means that you will not be able to carpool with zooKKs at this time. We recommend using our in app referral system to get your friends, family, and co-workers to join zooKKs. We reward users who take advantage of our in app referral system by giving them credit towards their future rides.

Q: Why are reviews important?

A: The following are a few examples of some advantages of reviews:

  • Your feedback helps other users to be confident and comfortable in carpooling with Ko-zooKKies that you have carpooled with before.
  • By building a history of activity and participation in the zooKKs app, other users will be more comfortable in carpooling with you.
  • Accumulating good reviews for yourself from other commuters will build your credibility as a user.
  • Reviews encourage good behavior from all users.

Q: What should I do if I receive a review that I do not deserve?

A: It is never nice to receive a negative review, especially when you feel as if you have done nothing to deserve it. Even though we understand you may be convinced you do not deserve it, we cannot delete or modify this review.

Indeed, a review only reflects the feeling and perception of the person who left it, and we cannot judge its validity or take anyone’s side. If we deleted every negative review left by members, the review system itself would be rendered useless.

In extreme cases of users leaving hateful, racist, sexist, or bigoted remarks, please notify us and we will remove the post and freeze the offending user’s account.

Q: I have found a new partner and we have scheduled our commute. Will I be able to cancel the other schedule with my old partners?

A: Yes, with zooKKs you have all the flexibility you need to modify your schedules as you see fit. If you have decided to commute with someone new, simply create a new schedule by canceling the old one with your other partners. When you do this, your previous partner will be notified that you are unable to commute with them and you can move forward with any new commuting plans.

Q: How will I be notified if someone has requested to carpool with me?

A: You will be notified by an in-app notification and likely by the other person through the in-app chat system. You can also see your carpool requests by logging in to your account and checking out the “Pending” tab in the “My Schedules” screen. You can reject or accept any schedule on this screen.

Q: How do I schedule a shared commute?

A: Once you decide on a commuter in your area, send them a message. If they agree to commute with you, simply use the in-app scheduling feature to set a time and make it happen!

Q: Is it mandatory to share commutes once I register?

A: Nope! You can share commutes as little or as often as you want. It’s all up to you.

Q: How do I know that the person I choose to carpool with isn’t crazy?

A: When users register with zooKKs they are able to link their social media accounts to their profile. This feature gives you the ability to do your own sort of “background check” on fellow carpoolers. If you don’t feel comfortable with someone, you don’t have to ride with them. It’s also important to consider that zooKKs was made exclusively for people who are commuting between work and home, so you’re not sharing rides with random people going to random places. You’re all in the same boat…er…car.

Q: How do I coordinate carpooling with more than one passenger?

A: The in-app mapping feature allows users to color code the different commute routes for multiple passengers, making trip planning and coordination simple and intuitive.

A: You will be connected with people who live and work in the same general areas that you do. They might even be your neighbors and co-workers!

Q: How can I find out more information about the driver?

A: You can select a zooKKie to view their profile at any time. Each profile provides links to any social media accounts the user has decided to connect to their zooKKs account. You may check them out on social media or take a look at their reviews on zooKKs. If you feel comfortable with them after learning more about them, you can request to schedule a carpool. You will be notified through the app if they have accepted or denied your request.

Q: Why am I not able to change my addresses?

A: For safety and security reasons, zooKKs only allows address changes once every three months. We find that most people do not experience changes in home or office addresses more often than this, and so to prevent the use of the app by ill-intentioned users, we do not allow frequent changes. If, however, you experience a legitimate address change in less than three months, please contact our team with proof of address and we will be happy to change it for you.

Q: How can I call Ko-zooKKie?

A: During registration, providing a phone number is completely optional but this is not information that we disclose to other users. If a user would like a Ko-zooKKie’s phone number, they must ask directly through our in-app chat feature.

It is completely up to each user’s discretion when it comes to giving out their personal information. You may wish to give your phone number out, or you may wish to restrict conversation to the zooKKs chat feature. Either way, it is completely up to you.

Q: Why should I provide links to my Facebook/Google+/LinkedIn accounts?

A: All social media fields are optional. However, zooKKs recommends providing those links as it increases your trustworthiness on our app and makes other users more comfortable with reaching out to schedule a commute with you.

Q: What type of photo should I upload for my profile?

A: zooKKs has strict guidelines for appropriate content on profiles. Any pictures or content that violate these guidelines will immediately be removed by zooKKs. You may choose to use a picture of yourself, or not, but usually a picture of yourself encourages other users to reach out to you. We find that people with profile pictures of themselves make the most connections.

A: To get more responses from other commuters, update all the fields on your profile, include a current profile picture, and fill in as much of the optional information as you can.

Q: What should I do when an unknown zooKKie tries to chat with me?

A: When receiving a chat message from an unknown user, first check their zooKKs profile. Then we recommend checking their profiles on social media if they are provided.

If you wish to find out more information, simply reply using the zooKKs chat feature. Ask for more specific information and engage in small talk to learn more about them.

zooKKs advises users to schedule a meeting with Ko-zooKKies in a public place prior to your first shared ride. If it is possible, bring a friend or family member with to your meeting. Usually meeting someone in person will give you a good idea about how safe and reliable they are. If you feel comfortable scheduling a commute after meeting them, simply use the in-app scheduling feature and get carpooling!

Following our safety tips will help to ensure a safe and comfortable carpooling experience for our users but we urge users to trust their instincts and to not take any unnecessary risks.

Q: Why can’t my address be changed for three months?

A: This is just a security measure to discourage misuse of the app. We find that most people do not change their home or work addresses in less than three months, so we implemented a time limit to prevent use from people who are not commuting between home and office. However, if you experience a legitimate address change (or accidentally entered the wrong one), simply contact us with proof of address and we will be happy to change it for you!

Q: Why is it just for commuters?

A: Commuters create most traffic congestion during rush hour. Since most commuters drive alone, zooKKs wanted to know what would happen if we consolidated multiple commuters into one vehicle. There are no solutions currently available for commuters who experience stress and frustration from their commutes, but we hope that as more people begin to carpool with zooKKs, we will be able to minimize traffic during rush hour, save working professionals time and money, and leave the environment a little better than we found it. zooKKs wants take the stress out of the most stressful time of day.

Q: Can I use zooKKs abroad?

A: Yes, you can access our zooKKs app anywhere, anytime. You can create or request a carpool wherever you migrate. However, if you experience an address change in fewer than three months, you must contact us with your updated information in order to change your address. Right now, we are focusing on launching the app in our hometown of Chicago, but we certainly do not discourage use in other cities.

Q: Is zooKKs free to use?

A: Membership on zooKKs is free. zooKKs does not charge any fee to download or browse the app. However, should you choose to use our services and carpool with zooKKs, much like PayPal, zooKKs will take a small percentage of the payment that passengers make to their drivers. Generally speaking, Uber and Lyft will take somewhere between 20-25%, but we will take only 15%. Since drivers are not contracted with us, we feel it is only fitting to take a smaller rate than other rideshare services.

Q: Is zooKKs for only for a limited destinations and cities?

A: zooKKs works wherever there are commuters. However, we find that most commuters typically travel less than 100 miles to their destinations. To deter use of the app by non-commuters, we have limited the allowable distance between home and work to 100 miles.

A: We have the utmost concern for your privacy and safety. In the zooKKs list view, you will only visible by your name, the street name of your home and office addresses (not the specific house or building number), and the time that you commute. No private data is shared until you feel comfortable with a Ko-zooKKie and are ready to share a commute.

Q: Why should I use zooKKs instead of public transportation?

A: While using public transportation is more environmentally friendly than everyone using their own car, it’s not necessarily schedule friendly OR stress free. Finding public transportation that matches your schedule, dealing with overcrowding and all the unpleasant things that come with it, and not to mention the sometimes less than sanitary conditions don’t exactly make for an enjoyable commute. zooKKs is the perfect way to start and end your day in comfort and style.

Q: What if the driver gets into a car accident?

A: While zooKKs would be very upset to be informed of an accident, we would not be held liable. Since we do not contract drivers, carpooling is done at each commuter’s own risk. Operating much like Airbnb or Craigslist, we merely connect people with one another so that they may have access to an alternative commuting opportunity.

Q: Does zooKKs perform background checks on its users??

A: zooKKs does not perform background checks at this time. It is up to each user’s discretion whom to carpool with and what information to share. However, we do have certain security measures in place to deter misuse of the app and to encourage good behavior.
